Saara Kurkela (b. 1976) is a finnish designer and illustrator.

Saara has studied textile art & design in the Aalto University School of Art and Design and worked as a designer in finnish companies Marja Kurki Oy and Vallila Interior Oy.

Her rich, detailed and colorful patterns are first created by hand using pen, graphite, watercolour or acrylic. Saara´s work is imaginary and inspired by her love of nature and joy of colors.

“ I ´m not a minimalistic person. Empty space has always attracted my rich imagination and mystery loving soul. No matter if it is a white wall or a blank paper I ´m attracted to fill and decorate it with paint and motifs. I see endless possibilities and love to imagine how something would look like and what could I come up with!? “
